Update + My Favourite Orchestral Soundtracks

Hello again all! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to post again. I just haven't had the creative spirit this last little while. I thought I would take this evening, however, as all I am doing otherwise is listening to music on my couch, which is what inspired me to come up with this post. I also need something that requires little wifi as my family has already reached our data cap this month so without further ado here goes!

1. The Man From Snowy River & Return to Snowy River

GUYS!!! This music! first off if you haven't seen these movies go do that ASAP because they are incredible. They are the kind of sweet, wholesome, perfect happy ending movie that we all need sometimes to escape the real world. The music is by far one of the best parts. I love almost every song on this soundtrack but I'll link a couple of my favourites.
"Back to the Mountains"-Return to Snowy River track 5
This song, it is so gorgeous! I can see the movie in my as I listen to it. There is something so peaceful about it, so calming. I listen to it when I'm overwhelmed and just need to stop and let my imagination wander. It is magnificent. It makes me want to go run across mountains and through valleys and just soak up nature.

"Jim's Ride"- The Man from Snowy River track 2
This song is much more upbeat than "Back to the Mountains", it is the kind of song I listen to when I want to feel empowered and energized and like I'm on an adventure. Just the bu-bu-bu-bu under the main melody makes you feel alive! and the du-dU-Du-DUUU, ah so satisfying!
There are many more songs I could add to this list such as the "Main Title", or "Skill at Arms" or the "Closing Credits", but then I would use up this whole post on one soundtrack.

2. Out of Africa
This is another amazing and gorgeous movie. Meryl Steep gained a new level of respect from me in this movie. It is stellar, and the music does not disappoint.
"I had a farm in Africa (Main Title)" Track 1
This song is stunning. Sweeping is really the only word that describes the style. It is soul jerking and it just makes me sigh and want to close my eyes. Every note has meaning. I don't know how composers write music like this but it is incredible!

3. Call the Midwife
Ah, this show. it is wonderful. Happy, heartbreaking, uplifting, empowering. I love it! And I can't wait for season 8 to get to Canada! It also among its many other amazing features possesses a beautiful soundtrack. I will come home from school and find my dad playing this soundtrack calm as can be, it's so darn good.
"The Miracle"-Track 2
I couldn't find of video of this one but you should find it! it just makes me ache but in a good way. You can feel the hope pouring out. It's like a cool drink. Cheesy statement I know but I love this song!! and the key change, GAHHHHH, it's so good!! Listen to it people, LISTEN!!
"Three steps from the sky"-Track 3
I couldn't find a video of this one either but it is also amazing! It is just so sweeping and glorious! I feel the hope.

4. Leap Year
I must admit I've never actually watched this whole movie, just the last scene when this song plays.
"Offering the Claddagh Ring"-Track 33
This is another amazing song! how has music not run out of incredible not combinations yet? I love the piano in this one and how the sections are different and yet work together so well. This is my happy song. If I am anxious or down or just unhappy I play this song and it never fails to put a real, genuine smile on my face no matter how out I am. It takes me back to summer and makes me want to stand on the edge of a cliff with a handsome guy kissing me. It also reminds me of the two old Irish guys in this scene, they always make me laugh.

5. The Sound of Music
I know there are many amazing songs in this movie, it is a musical after all, but I am just including the orchestral ones, which are still gorgeous.
"Laendler"-Track 12
Gotta love this one! It is a toe-tapper, just makes you want to get up and dance. It is also just a wonderful scene in the movie.
I know there are other good orchestral songs in here but this is the only one that isn't another version of one of the sung songs.

6. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron
This movie is my childhood! if you haven't seen it I don't know how your life can be complete. I'm kidding but seriously, this movie shaped my life! And Hans Zimmer knocks another soundtrack out of the park.
"Run Free"-Track 10
I recently went on a choir tour with my school and while there we stayed with my friend who I went to school with last year. On the drive to her house, we blasted this song so loud the speakers vibrated. Let me just give you a mental picture: four grade 12 girls in a little car, blasting an animated movie soundtrack and doing all the beats with our hands. It was a good time, we also watched the movie that night. It was amazing. This song just makes me want to be a kid again and just run and pretend to be a horse! I just want to be carefree!!
"Homeland"-Track 11
Ah, this song. So good!!! I can see the movie in my mind, the eagle flying over the river and into the canyon, Spirit narrating. My favourite part is when he says "They say the story of the west was written from the saddle of a horse, whether that west was won or lost in the end you'll have to decide for yourself, But I was there, and I remember the sun and the sky and the wind calling my name in a time when wild horses ran free!!!" and yes I did just write that all from memory, I've seen this movie a thousand times.

There are more I could mention such as Pride and Prejudice or The Secret Garden or any other period drama. Not to mention the amazing action movie soundtracks. But unfortunately it is getting late and I really want to post this so this will have to do for now. I hope you enjoy some of the same movies and soundtracks that I do. Also if anyone has any tips for getting my blog out to interested people and finding more followings that would be great! also if anyone has a blog I'd love to read it! Have a good week! I will try to write again soon!
All the best, Lindsey
